The group initially started as a six-piece band with members from both sides of the Atlantic, including the likes of Lou Gramm, Dennis Elliott, and Ed Gagliardi. Foreigner is a British-American rock band that was formed in 1976 by Mick Jones, an English musician and former guitarist of the band Spooky Tooth, and Ian McDonald, who was also a member of the progressive rock band King Crimson.
